Who do you ask, Lebron James. Probably the most single powerful man in all of professional sports. Now when I say powerful I'm not talking political like health care reform, or anything of such. I am talking the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR. Now lets jump right in. When looking at an sports franchise wins equals dollars, and when Lebron in playing on your team your team does two things, wins games and makes money. When Lebron James leaves your team, your team does two things, loses games and money, point, blank, period. Since his departure from the Cleveland Cav's the franchise has crumbled. They are currently the worst team in the NBA with a record of 8-45. Last week they broke an NBA record of 25 straight losses. At this point in the season last year the Cav's had less losses then they had wins this year. If wins make you money then losses are sure going to create a hole in your pocket. "Based on a review of attendance and fan cost indices for the Cleveland Cavaliers in both the 7 years pre-LeBron and 7 years with LeBron, as well as a review of recent NBA ‘revenue-to-franchise value’ ratios and Consumer Price Index data, the Cavaliers franchise is at least $60 million more valuable with King James ruling their court…and more likely $100 million more valuable." So in short one man cost a Sports Franchise $160 million. And while some say money isn't everything, to a sports franchise its the only thing. The money you spend on talent will always transcend into dollars, and the lost of the most talented man in sports would created the inverse reaction. When you lose a SuperMan type figure like Lebron James you can bet all hell will break loose. Going from first to worst in a split second would turn anyone against superman, and with his decision to play for the Miami Heat that is exactly what happened. While Lebron James decision has made him a marked man, he seems to be happier then ever playing along side Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
